David Collado reported that, in November alone, RD received 571,354 tourists, who generated more than 532 million dollars in foreign currency.

Minister David Collado said that Dominican tourism continues reaching “extraordinary” record figures by reaching almost 7.5 million people in the first eleven months of this year, in addition to generating US $ 7.8 million in foreign currency during that period, according to estimates to be confirmed by the Central Bank later.

In his traditional monthly press conference reporting on the tourism industry’s performance, the official reported that last month was the best November in history since the country received 571,354 tourists by air, 109,489 tourists more than those who arrived in November 2019, representing an increase of 24%.

“We did it again In November, we reached record figures in the visit of 571,354 tourists just by air, which means a 24% increase in arrivals compared to November 2019. It’s a real success story month after month,” Collado said.

He reported that of the 571,354 tourists who arrived in the country last month, 476,647 were foreigners and 94,707 non-residents Dominicans.

“With the arrival of Dominicans residing outside the country we registered a growth of 20 percent compared to November 2019 and we exceeded a 12% growth in foreigner visitors,” said the Minister of Tourism.

He indicated that in the January-November the country received 6,397,444 tourists, compared to 5,821,768 who arrived in the same eleven months of the year, meaning a growth of 9.8% above 2019.

Collado also highlighted the growth in the arrival of cruise passengers, with195,270 arrivals registered in November, compared to 111,128 in the same month of 2019.

In the January-November period, 1,085,606 cruise passengers arrived in the country, compared to the 948,118 who visited us in the same period of 2019.

“If we add the 571,354 tourists who arrived by air and the 195,270 who came through cruise ships, we are talking about the historic figure of 766,624 visitors in the month of January. If that’s not a record, tell me what it is!” the official exclaimed at the press conference, which took place in the Great Hall of the Ambassador Hotel.

Collado also highlighted that in the first eleven months of this year, the Dominican Republic received 6,397,444 visitors by air, as well as another 1,085,606 day-trippers, for a total of 7,483,050 people in the January-November period.
