The Minister of Tourism, David Collado, announced through his social media accounts that he has secured agreements with several Canadian airlines, resulting in an additional 50,000 seats on various routes connecting Canada with the Dominican Republic.

According to the announcement, Air Transat will open four new routes connecting Canada with Punta Cana, Samaná, Puerto Plata, and La Romana during the 2025 high season, adding 15,500 extra seats.

Sunwing will add seven additional frequencies during the high season, contributing 30,000 new seats.

“For the Dominican Republic, it is vitally important to continue strengthening relationships with these Canadian airlines that trust in our market and have helped Canada consolidate its position as the second most important country for tourist arrivals to the Dominican Republic,” stated Minister Collado.

The Ministry of Tourism team conducted roadshows in Toronto and Montreal this week, meeting with over 300 tour operators and travel agents in these cities. During these events, Minister Collado held private meetings with the airlines as well as with other key players in the country’s tourism sector based in Canada.
