The construction of a state-of-the-art theme park and two hotels in Punta Cana was announced today, With an investment of US$ 350 million. The announcement was made by President Luis Abinader, together with the Minister of Tourism, David Collado, and business executives from Meliá Hotels International and Falcon’s.
Abinader also highlighted that this investment will create more than direct 600 jobs in the theme park alone and twice that many indirectly.
The Head of State also said that many investors from various fields want to invest in the country because their investments are guaranteed.
The Minister of Tourism said that the theme park will see an investment of US$ 170 million, which will open the doors to the diversity of the eastern region, which is the spearhead in the Dominican Republic.
Collado said that US$ 180 million will be invested in the hotels and RD$ 50 million in renovating their rooms.
Katmandu Park a world of adventure
The park will be called Katmandu Park and will opening its doors in the fall of 2022, along with other projects that will consolidate the destination’s leadership in entertainment, gastronomy, and shopping tourism.
The project was announced by Meliá Hotels International and Falcon’s Beyond Global while also revealing exhaustive plans to renovate and improve their Paradisus hotels in Punta Cana.
Falcon’s Beyond’s plan for this new entertainment destination will go ahead in two phases, one includes the development of Katmandu Park Punta Cana, which will feature the characters and magical history of Kathmandu, a place of great children’s motivation in Europe.
The “Kathmandu Experience”, which will include legendary attractions to the latest entertainment innovations, such as the world’s first Suspended Theater, will also offer exciting adventures where guests and visitors will immerse themselves in the universe of Kathmandu, completely transforming the entertainment offer of the Dominican Republic.
The second phase of the project will allow an expansion of the first phase by adding top-notch entertainment, restaurants and shopping by incorporating internationally renowned major brands in these sectors and will be led by Falcon’s Beyond. Falcon’s Beyond Global CEO, Cecil D. Magpuri, said in his speech that the size and potential of the entertainment brands that we will be announcing at the beginning of next year as members of phase two of the project are really impressive.
