The Punta Cana International Airport (PUJ) closed 2025 as one of the Caribbean’s leading airports in terms of traffic and operations, recording sustained growth and achieving multiple historic records for both flight operations and passenger flows within a single month. This performance reflects a comprehensive strategy focused on connectivity, service quality, and infrastructure development.

Information released highlights that during December 2025, PUJ achieved three consecutive weekly records, underscoring the strength of demand and operational efficiency.

The close of 2025 confirms PUJ’s upward trajectory, having handled more than 11 million passengers during the year—an increase of 9.9% compared to 2024—while aircraft operations grew by 15.6%, reaching 35,092 flights. This performance was driven, among other factors, by the launch of new strategic routes to key markets such as France, Mexico, the United States, Colombia, and the Eastern Caribbean, as well as the expansion of international airlines that continue to position Punta Cana as a regional tourism hub.

PUJ’s operational growth was further supported by significant international recognitions, including Level 3 Customer Experience Accreditation awarded by the Airports Council International (ACI), 4-Star Airport status from Skytrax, recognition of its VIP Lounge by Priority Pass, and recertification under ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 standards. These achievements were complemented by infrastructure enhancements such as the expansion of Terminal B parking facilities and the inauguration of the Punta Cana Free Trade Zone (PCFTZ)—the first logistics park operating within an airport in the region.

These results reaffirm Punta Cana International Airport’s position as one of the busiest international airports in the Caribbean and Latin America, reflecting the positive impact of a strengthened tourism ecosystem supported by new hotel openings, strategic partnerships, and a clear vision focused on delivering a safe, efficient, and memorable travel experience. In doing so, PUJ continues to consolidate its role as a key driver of the Dominican Republic’s economic and tourism development.
