Marriott International, Grupo Puntacana, and Mac Hotels held the official ribbon-cutting ceremony for W Punta Cana, an Adult All-Inclusive resort, the first W Hotels property in the world under the “adults-only all-inclusive” concept.

The event was attended by the President of the Dominican Republic, Luis Abinader; the Minister of Tourism, David Collado; as well as senior executives from Marriott International, represented by Brian King, President of Marriott International for the Caribbean and Latin America; Mac Hotels, represented by the group’s founder, Miguel Amengual, along with Begoña Amengual, CEO of the company; and Grupo Puntacana, represented by Frank Rainieri and his son Frank Elías Rainieri, President and CEO.

During the ceremony, Abinader highlighted the positive impact of such investments on the country’s tourism and economic development. Meanwhile, Collado celebrated the arrival of an iconic brand like W Hotels to the Dominican portfolio.

Brian King emphasized the strategic importance of the Dominican market for Marriott International, affirming the company’s vision to continue strengthening the destination with flagship projects and the integration of the most recognized brands within the Marriott Bonvoy portfolio.

Additionally, Begoña Amengual praised the architectural design of the project, conceived to inspire new generations of hotels toward greater sustainability and respect for the environment. She also highlighted the partnership between Marriott International, Grupo Puntacana, and Mac Hotels as a catalyst for training and developing thousands of people, fostering their professional and personal growth.

W Punta Cana, Adult All-Inclusive, opened its doors to the public in June 2025 and is expected to become the preferred destination for travelers seeking sophistication, avant-garde design, and a unique vibe, marked by unexpected experiences and the exclusive luxury service characteristic of W Hotels.

Located in the Uvero Alto area, the new resort redefines contemporary luxury with over 340 rooms and suites, 12 restaurants celebrating the richness of Dominican and international cuisine, a world-class AWAY Spa, and immersive experiences designed exclusively for adults, focused on music, wellness, and cutting-edge design.

The project represents a strategic collaboration among the brands, establishing Punta Cana as a hub for high-level hospitality in the Caribbean.
