Ocean World Adventure Park, our incredible marine park celebrates 20 years in existence.
Converted into Puerto Plata’s main complementary tourist attraction, it opened its doors in April 2004, thanks to the developmental vision of its founder and president, Ludwig Alfred Meister.
Mr. Meister arrived in Puerto Plata with the idea of replicating his successful Dolphin Swim project in Nassau, Bahamas, finding the personal support of the then president of Dominican Republic, Hipólito Mejía, who availed of a Caricom summit in the Bahamas to visit the Dolphin Swin project on that island and similarly saw the potential to transform the entire Province of Puerto Plata.
It was among the first 3 projects approved under Law 158-01 on the Promotion of Tourism Development in 2001, and the first of complementary tourist offer.
