The Dominican Free Zones Association (Adozona) highlighted the 21.9% growth of the sector during the January-October period of this year, according to the Central Bank.
At the AGM, headed by its president, Luis José Bonilla said that exports from free zones this year will close with record figures in excess of US $ 7 billion for the first time in the history of the country, exceeding by far US $ 5,898 million
He said that the Adozona Annual Meeting will be held next Thursday, December 9, in collaboration with the Ministry of Industry, Trade and MSMEs, when the “Regional Agenda for Development and Growth in Democracy” will be announced.
“Currently the free zone sector has more than 180,000 direct employees, a figure unthinkable a year ago in the midst of the pandemic,” he said.
