Known as the Hostos Project, Minister of Energy and Mines, Joel Santos, reported that the submarine cable project designed to transmit electricity to Puerto Rico is being developed by the private sector.

The official emphasized that this initiative will have its own electricity generation.
He then clarified that the project will not depend on the current or future generation systems of the Dominican Republic.
Finally, the Minister of Energy and Mines highlighted the relevance of this type of investment for the country’s energy, environment and water sectors, stressing the importance of keeping the population informed about these plans.
