The Dominican free trade zone sector estimates that it will exceed seven billion dollars in exports of goods by the end of 2021.
The information was made public by the executive vice president of the Dominican Association of Free Zones (Adozona), José Manuel Torres, who pointed out that the sector has already recovered all its jobs which currently exceed 180,000 direct jobs.
“That´s 10,000 jobs on top of the pre-pandemic figures, and we are excited because we´re not just recovering jobs, we are creating new ones,” he said.
Torres spoke before the preparatory reunions leading up to the XIV Ibero-American Business Meeting headed by the Employers’ Confederation of the Dominican Republic (Copardom), the Ibero-American General Secretariat (Segib) and the Ibero-American Business Council (CEIB).
The event was attended by executives from the most representative employer organizations such as: the Dominican Republic Industry Association (AIRD), Conep, ANJE, Asonahores, Codopyme, among others.
According to the data provided, the meeting was aimed at defining and completing the groundwork to guarantee the complete success of the XIV Ibero-American Business Meeting.
