That’s how Argentina’s Secretary of Tourism, Sports and Environment, Daniel Osvaldo Scioli, referred to the Dominican Republic during an official meeting with his Dominican counterpart, David Collado. The meeting was part of an institutional visit aimed at strengthening bilateral ties in tourism, air connectivity, and international cooperation.

Among the key agreements announced, Scioli stated that Argentina will work to facilitate the entry of Dominican citizens holding U.S. visas. This measure, to be coordinated with immigration authorities, seeks to promote tourism flows between the two nations.

During the meeting, both officials also expressed their joint support for the new Secretary-General of UN Tourism, Shaikha Mai bint Mohammed Al Khalifa, and confirmed that the Dominican Republic will have a prominent presence at the International Tourism Fair (FIT) to be held in September in Buenos Aires.

  • As part of the open skies policy, Collado—together with the CEO of Dominican airline Arajet and the Dominican ambassador to Argentina, Jorge Marte Báez—discussed increasing the frequency of flights to Buenos Aires and Córdoba before the end of the year.

“We discussed various topics of mutual interest for the tourism sectors of both countries,” Collado wrote on Instagram, where he described Scioli’s visit to his hotel as “a great gesture” in the ongoing effort to strengthen bilateral relations.
