On August 9, the Dominican Association of Hotels and Tourism (Asonahores) celebrated its 60th anniversary with a gala dinner at the El Embajador hotel.
The president of Asonahores, Rafael Blanco Tejera, stated that tourism is the fastest growing sector of the economy. Tourism’s full recovery was possible due to the timely introduction of proper health policies in the country put in place by the tourism cabinet.
Asonahores recognized the extraordinary work of the tourism cabinet in the persons of President Luis Abinader, and the Minister of Tourism, David Collado.
The activity was attended by most of the former presidents of Asonahores, who were introduced by the executive vice president of the association, Andrés Marranzini Grullón, and who were given a plaque of merit in recognition of the work they did so that today tourism is the national economy’s leading industry.
Enrique De Marchena Kaluche, managing partner of DMK Abogados and past president of Asonahores (2004-2006), in his words of congratulations said that “every day 175 thousand Dominicans get out of bed to serve the tourism sector in the Dominican Republic” and affirmed that “as the leading association for the tourism sector, Asonahores has played a leading role in developing the tourism industry during these six decades.” He thanked the employees of Asonahores, who have been with the sector during this 60-year journey, the past presidents of Asonahores, its executive directors and executive vice presidents. He also thanked President Luis Abinader Corona and the Minister of Tourism, David Collado, praising their achievements in these first two years of government for having made a true alliance between the public and private sectors to develop tourism through regular meetings of the tourism cabinet.
