The covid-19 pandemic transformed the way people choose a destination, so nations must offer added value to the 4,086,675 tourists arriving during January-June 2023.

The Dominican Republic’s travel and tourism industry is aware of this change in model. This was reported by the Minister of Tourism, David Collado, who said that 1,800 people were directly benefited by community tourism.

The official highlighted that Mitur supported 52 communities in alliance with the Japan International Cooperation Agency, which developed a program to strengthen sustainable tourism development in Dominican communities.

The nation located in the Caribbean region has to develop sustainable tourism, with actions that mitigate its impact on the environment in the communities where visitors are received.

When visiting a destination, tourists want to live experiences adapted to their needs, so it is crucial to adapt the environments, products, and tourism services to allow access, use, and enjoyment.
