The Secretary-General of the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO), Zurab Pololikashvili said that tourism in the Dominican Republic is a risk-free investment.
Pololikashvili explained that the country is a paradise with innovative governance that has set an example by its good crisis management.
“Our recognition of the Dominican Republic is due to the innovative governance it has developed to manage the health crisis. Just one example, the Dominican Republic was the first country in the world that did not ask for PCR testing.”
Pololikashvili spoke at the local presentation of the Dominican Republic Tourism Investment Guide conducted by UNWTO in conjunction with the Dominican Ministry of Tourism (MITUR), and the Dominican Republic Export and Investment Centre (PRODOMINICANA).
Pololikashvili pointed out that there are two types of investors, emotional and institutional, but, in both cases, stability and trust are needed and, above all, proper strategy.
“You have to invest now. The Minister of Tourism and the Prime Minister are working so that everyone benefits from the growth of tourism, creating jobs and better conditions for all,” he said, adding that economic, social and political stability, as well as natural resources, connectivity, a solid legal framework and the growth of foreign direct investment are fundamental elements for investment.
On that note, Pololikashvili emphasized that the role investors are playing in promoting tourism in the Dominican Republic is crucial.
“I thank every investor and any new one who is going to invest in ‘paradise’ because it’s a safe bet.”
The Tourist Investment Guide of the Dominican Republic is a guide designed to provide basic information to promote setting up commercial links with the Dominican tourism sector and its value chain, providing details about its economic panorama, investments and competitiveness, as well as the first portfolio of strategic projects in the country.
