Rome: The WTTC Global Summit is being held in this capital city with leaders from the public and private tourism sectors taking part.The Dominican Republic is represented by the Ministry of Tourism and the National Association of Hotels and Tourism, (Asonahores). Also part of the regional delegation is the business leader Haydee Kuret de Ranieri, vice president of the Diario Libre group, and the director of the Puerto Rico Tourism Company, Willanette Robles.
Enrique de Marchena recalled that he attended the summit for the first time in Brazil, as president of the Caribbean Hotel and Tourism Association, remembering that at the time he was accompanied by Frank and Haydee Ranieri, and he emphasized that “history repeats itself” with the participation of new Caribbean leaders in this global meeting.

Under the motto “La Grande Belleza (del Viaggio), (The Great Beuty of Travel) La Cumbre gathers more than 310 executives and officials from 65 countries.
Tourism and travel currently generate one out of every three jobs in the world and exceed one trillion dollars in investment, a growth of 9.9% compared to the previous year, according to data from the organization.
For the region, attendance at the event is strategic: tourism is one of the economic pillars and a direct means of wealth distribution. The participation of the Dominican Republic and Puerto Rico aims to strengthen ties with investors and promote sustainability and competitiveness.
