The Dominican Republic continues to break records in tourist arrivals, reaching 735,064 non-resident visitors in the month of July, making it the best month ever in tourist arrivals in Dominican history, surpassing December 2021, reported Minister of Tourism, David Collado.

The Minister emphasized that this achievement points to a year’s closure beating the number of more than 7 million tourists for the first time in history and said that the arrival of non-resident visitors in July this year was 10% more than July 2018, 24% more than July 2019 and 30% more than the same month in 2021.

“We did it again. We achieved an extraordinary month in tourist arrivals to the Dominican Republic,” said Collado, referring to the record number reached in July. “Together with December 2021, July 2022 is the only month in history with more than 700,000 tourists in a single month.” The minister indicated that, in addition to those 734,064 air passengers, another 98,389 cruise passengers arrived in the country in July. This means that the DR has received more than 4.1 million tourists so far this year. He said the arrival of tourists last month had a direct impact on the economy, as it accounted for $739 million in foreign exchange contributions.

The United States continues to lead as the country that emits the most tourists, followed by Canada, Colombia, Puerto Rico, Spain, Cuba and the UK.

Minister Collado reiterated that this year will close with the arrival of more than 7 million tourists, “thus achieving the best year ever in the history of tourism, thanks to the vision implemented by the State and cooperation of the private sector”.
