The report indicates that May achieved 8.2% growth and also notes that the Monthly Economic Activity Indicator (IMAE) expanded by 4.3% in May 2024. It highlights that in the first five months of 2024, an average year-on-year growth of 4.9% was accumulated.
The information underscores that the hotels, bars, and restaurants sector showed significant dynamism, largely driven by the arrival of 3,716,262 tourists by air during the first five months of the year.
It is also noted that 1,284,635 excursionists were received, totaling 5,000,897 visitors in January-May 2024.
Other sectors that saw variations in the first five months included financial services (7.8%), real estate and rental activities (6.0%), free trade zone manufacturing (5.8%), transportation and storage (5.7%), energy and water (5.2%), other service activities (5.2%), communications (5.0%), construction (4.4%), health (4.4%), education (4.1%), agriculture (4.0%), trade (3.4%), local manufacturing (2.7%), among others.
Finally, the BCRD reports that all economic activities recorded positive performance in January-May 2024, except for mining.
