- The incorporation of Santiago Business City for productive activities is announced
The Santiago Free Zone Corporation (CZFS) celebrated its 50th anniversary this Wednesday, highlighting its leadership in developing key infrastructure for the economic growth of the entire region, driving greater investment flows and, with them, new business opportunities.
The event, attended by President Luis Abinader and Vice President Raquel Peña, featured remarks from the Chairman of the Corporation’s Board of Directors, Miguel Lama, who emphasized the crucial role the institution has played since its founding in April 1974.
“The Corporation was born 50 years ago as a seed of hope to improve employment from a remote and isolated corner of the city. Santiago became the fertile ground where the vision of its founders transformed challenges into one of the most inspiring success stories. This model, which generates jobs, opportunities, and attracts global investments, has exceeded all expectations,” Lama stated.
He pointed out that in the capital of Cibao, where 40% of the country’s free zone companies and 80% of its industrial campuses are concentrated, the Corporation has developed modern infrastructure that promotes the internationalization of Dominican products from the Víctor Espaillat Mera Industrial Park (PIVEM).
Additionally, the businessman reported that the Corporation has been a key player in strengthening projects such as the Cibao International Airport and the Metropolitan Hospital of Santiago (HOMS).
