• Marte Piantini emphasized that since August 2020, Dominicans have had access to more global destinations. However, he explained the need to continue expanding the country’s air connectivity network so that national operators can reach other markets.

In the past four years, civil aviation has strengthened, adding 438,836 air operations in and out, including charter and regular flights, 46,002 non-regular air operations, and 18,940 operations under special permits.

These figures were provided by José Ernesto Marte Piantini, President of the Civil Aviation Board (JAC), summarizing achievements during his four-year tenure. He highlighted that the country established 281 new routes to various global destinations and generated nearly $49 million in direct and indirect revenue.

The JAC president noted that air connectivity is a fundamental pillar for the country’s economic development, referring to the total operations conducted from August 2020 to June 2024.

“A total of 438,836 air operations in and out were carried out through international airport terminals, with an average frequency of 1,275 flights per week to different destinations, under charter and regular flight modes,” he emphasized.

He underscored that the aviation sector’s accomplishments under his leadership have been significant, with a focus on continuing to develop air connectivity and transportation, evident in the authorization of 46,002 non-regular or charter flight operations and 18,940 flights approved under special permits.

In his fourth management report, Marte Piantini stated, “Air connectivity is crucial for the comprehensive and sustainable development of the Dominican Republic.”
