Our managing partner, Enrique De Marchena Kaluche, is in Madrid this week at the fall conference of the American Bar Association (ABA), the largest bar association in the world.
King Felipe VI of Spain participated at the opening ceremony and, in his speech, praised “the decisive role that jurists and lawyers play in the defense of citizens and companies”. “You are the guarantors of effective judicial protection… in the face of the changing events that impact our societies, you are always able to respond with respect for the law, seeking understanding and generating trust in society,” he added.
Under the motto “Europe and America. Synergies and opportunities” more than 400 lawyers from more than 30 countries are attending this event that will address topics such as Legaltech, M&A, Arbitration, Human Rights, trade and investment, among many others.
The ABA comprises more than 92 Colleges and entities in the United States. Europe and America societies share many legal values, but they also have different regulatory frameworks. This conference will discuss different legal institutions, the future of the profession and current trends throughout Europe, Latin America, the Caribbean and North America.
