Participating at the closing of the Council of the Americas, President Luis Abinader said that the Government is promoting the National Semiconductor Strategy (Enfis), which will be the foundation of an economy that aspires to be an important part of the Fourth Industrial Revolution.
“This strategy means we will be promoting the development of the semiconductor industry in the region, to complement the reindustrialization process of that sector in the United States,” he said.
“This effort highlights the positive synergy that we are experiencing today, the Government and you, businessmen, with whom we have established a relationship that goes beyond just trade,” he said.
He stressed that the impact of this relationship of trust is reflected in the development of strategic sectors that have made the Dominican Republic a key destination for advanced manufacturing.
He also said that prestigious global companies such as Medtronic, Jabil, Baxter, B. Braun, Accumed, Cardinal Health, Eaton and Rockwell, have bet on the country, choosing it as a safe destination for investment.
“The results we can show as a country are due, to a large extent, to the strategy we have encouraged in response to the demands of an ever-changing global economy,” he said.
He said that strategic alliances have been forged with prestigious international academic institutions, such as Purdue University, “which has allowed us to draw a roadmap to develop a highly trained workforce in the semiconductor industry.”
