President Luis Abinader headed this Thursday the inauguration of a new luxury hotel in Cayo Levantado, with an investment of 50 million euros, which will generate more than 500 direct jobs in this province.
Speaking briefly at the ceremony, the head of state said that foreign investment this year is expected to reach 4.4 billion dollars.
The President recalled that last year foreign investments were 4.1 billion dollars and this year they are going for 4.3 billion, so it is predicted that they will end in 4.4 billion.
He also thanked the Piñero Group for promoting tourism and providing jobs for 7,000 Dominicans.
It is recalled that in the recently closed convention of the National Council of Private Enterprise (CONEP), the president of the entity assured that the investment for next year in this sector will exceed 30 billion dollars.
The president of Conep, Juan Celso Marranzini, assured that this was possible due to the confidence and economic stability that exists in the country for the private sector to continue being the engine of growth of the Dominican Republic.
The governor recognized the heart and passion that the Piñero family has put into business, “that is what is important when you put your heart and passion into a business, not only good business comes out, but also good projects for the community and its people”.
He also emphasized that this hotel is an example of sustainable development with the environment, where the environment can be cared for and protected and at the same time developed economically, from the tourism point of view.
The president said that the government will continue to support these initiatives of responsible growth for the country, which represents an example for the present and the future.
“We will continue to develop our hotels, we will continue to support our industries always with the protection of the environment so that it will be a sustainable development”, he added.

218 rooms and marks a significant milestone
This resort has 218 rooms and marks a significant milestone after four months of its opening and an investment of just over 50 million euros.
Through its Hidden Rhythm concept, it seeks to position itself as a benchmark in luxury tourism in the Caribbean region, highlighting three fundamental pillars of sustainability: wellness, promotion of local culture and preservation of the natural environment.
During the inauguration ceremony, the authorities had the opportunity to take a guided tour of the facilities, where they were able to explore up close the exclusive amenities offered by the resort, including “Yubarta”, a space for personal development that arises to redefine the concept of wellness in the hospitality industry, whose name pays tribute to the humpback whales native to Samaná.
Yubarta was chosen as the place to officialize the inauguration of Cayo Levando Resort, with the release of butterflies native to the Samaná ecosystem, a symbolic act that represents the hotel’s connection with its natural surroundings.
Meanwhile, Encarna Piñero, CEO of Grupo Piñero, during the opening ceremony said: “Tourism companies are fortunate to work with the happiness of people and that motivates us to continue innovating without losing our originality and a close and personalized treatment, something that in the case of Cayo Levantado Resort is possible thanks to the commitment and genuine kindness of our employees, most of them from Samaná, who also believe in the value of this project”.
