Our managing partner, Enrique De Marchena Kaluche, participated in the AmCham lunch in DR where the Foreign Minister of the Dominican Republic, Roberto Álvarez, was guest speaker and guest of honor with the presentation entitled “A current vision of the foreign policy of the Government of President Luis Abinader”.

The country’s Minister of Foreign Affairs spoke about the country’s position with respect to Haiti and other foreign policy issues. In his speech, the diplomat clarified that the speed with which the interested countries respond to the request of the Haitian government “will be crucial” for the unfolding of events in Haiti and that Dominican Government will continue to do “everything in its power to help”.

According to the Minister, by trying to help the neighboring country, this activism served for key countries to consider the Dominican Republic as an essential partner and ally to advance the peace and development agenda in the neighboring country.

On the other hand, the official spoke about the Alliance for Development in Democracy (ADD) and explained that it will become one of the pillars that “will contribute the most” to commercial and cultural relations between the Dominican Republic and the United States. Among the key achievements of the Alliance is the formation of a High-Level Business Council and the opening of a strategic dialogue with the United States and the U.S. business sector. As a result of this link, agreements were signed between the ADD and the United States, aimed at binding the strengthening of global supply chains, a key element for the economic growth of our countries.
