The King of Spain, Felipe VI, at the closing of the XIV Ibero-American Business Meeting last Friday, assured that the Dominican Republic has demonstrated an unbeatable economic performance with high growth rates of over 5%.
He considered that this has been the result of the impulse of the activity of the private sector and the application of macroeconomic policies by President Luis Abinader that have allowed great stability in the country”.
In delivering his speech, His Majesty thanked the country for its affection and affection while affirming that this nation has been a fundamental partner for Spain in different areas.
“Especially in the economic area where our investment is very important both qualitatively and quantitatively,” said the king.
He stressed that bilateral relations have always been positive and that in recent years they have intensified even more, so he understands that we are living in a moment of great proximity between the two nations.
“In recent years the Dominican Republic has demonstrated an unbeatable economic performance with high growth rates of more than 5% as a result of the impulse of the private sector activity and the application of macroeconomic policies that have allowed great stability in the country,” he said.
Likewise, he indicated that the country has a strong private sector committed to the country’s challenges, in order to achieve lasting and stable growth, as well as the importance of close and adequate public-private collaboration for the achievement of the strategic objectives of an entire nation.
Regarding tourism, he highlighted the country’s recovery, “allow me to digress and congratulate the Dominican Republic for the excellent management carried out in recent years when it comes to reactivating tourism”.
For his part, President Luis Abinader, in his keynote speech, said that this is “the perfect scenario to take a leap and work for what unites us, makes us grow, and provides us with development and growth for our community”.
He also assured that the Ibero-American region is alive, “is vibrant, and is at its best moment to invest”.
He said that the area is one of the main markets in the world and that now it is a question of continuing to grow, with one objective, which is to be an area of cooperation, justice, freedom of enterprise, and rights.
According to the Dominican President, this is a forum that brings together more than a thousand businessmen, presidents of leading Ibero-American companies, and whose vocation is to contribute to making Ibero-America more Ibero-American and to promote relations of trust among businessmen in order to grow and strengthen the Ibero-American business fabric.
Speaking before the King of Spain, presidents, vice presidents, foreign ministers, businessmen, and thousands of people from different nations, the president said, “we are undoubtedly a community of present and future, and the future is being decided in the present. Therefore, forums such as this allow us to be that voice that pushes and shapes the future”.
“The paramount importance of trade relations, digitalization, and technology to drive sustained and sustainable growth throughout Ibero-America will undoubtedly be the issues that we will have to address as a community and put our experiences at the service of others to create synergies that make us all win,” the president argued.
For the Dominican head of state, “with this forum, a transcendental era full of opportunities is opening before us if we are able to overcome with ingenuity the challenges that lie ahead in an increasingly global and interconnected world”.
Among the heads of state who accompanied the Dominican head of state were Guillermo Lasso from Ecuador, Mario Abdo Benítez from Paraguay, Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa from Portugal, and Luis Lacalle Pou from Uruguay.
Commitment Manifesto
The XIV Ibero-American Business Meeting ended last Friday, the 24th, with the reading of a manifesto of commitment signed by the gathered business organizations.
Some of the commitments established in this manifesto establish the improvement of productivity, investment in human capital, collaboration in large projects, promotion of women in business, investment in projects with a positive impact, and work on stable regulatory frameworks.
Those in charge of presenting this commitment through the delivery of the recommendations of the business organizations were: Antonio Garamendi, President of the CEOE and of the Permanent Secretariat of CEIB; Celso Juan Marranzini, President of CONEP; María Paz Jervís, Executive President of the Chamber of Industries and Production of Ecuador.
