The Ministry of Industry, Commerce, and MSMEs (MICM) highlights the impact of the inclusion of new companies and the expansion of others.

Free zone exports in the Dominican Republic in August 2024 reached a value of US$743.3 million, representing a 10.4% growth compared to the US$673.5 million exported in August 2023.

This information was shared by the MICM this Sunday, indicating that in cumulative terms, free zone exports reached a new high of US$5.783 billion, reflecting a 7.8% growth compared to the same period last year.

“The figures for this sector during August 2024 confirm the upward trend of the Free Zones and the recovery of national exports, according to preliminary data published by the General Directorate of Customs,” the statement highlights.

In August 2024, total exports increased by 18.3% compared to the same month last year, rising from US$946.6 million to US$1.119 billion. This growth surpasses the 13.2% reached in July, breaking the US$1 billion barrier for the sixth consecutive month, accumulating US$8.611 billion in the first eight months of the year.
