Putting on the boots of Dr. Enrique De Marchena Dujarric and the shoes of Engineer Enrique Eduardo de Marchena de Marchena de Marchena is not easy, however, the grandson and son Dr. Enrique De Marchena Kaluche, is accomplishing that task.

According to his mother, Mrs. Aída, from a very young age, he showed signs of what he wanted to be when he became an adult: a doctor in law, emulating his grandfather. Once he achieved this, he decided to join the tourism sector, emulating his father. “He was always very alert, very precocious, and showed good personal feelings,” says his mother. As proof of these good feelings, he points out that on one occasion, after participating in a karate class, when he returned home he told her: “Mom, I’m going to quit karate because today during practice they made me fight with a girl, and it’s not true that I’m going to hit a woman.

Dr. Enrique de Marchena Kaluche is recognized as the most experienced legal counsel in the tourism sector in the Dominican Republic. As a partner and representative of the law firm of Dr. Luis Heredia Bonetti in Puerto Plata, he had a very active participation in the formation and development of the first tourist resort in Playa Dorada. He later became independent and, upon his return to the Capital, established his own law offices as founder and managing partner of DMK Abogados. For nearly 40 years he has assisted and represented numerous tourism projects, hotel chains, tour operators, timeshare companies, airlines, and theme parks among others. His work commitment, in addition to the DR, has expanded to the rest of the Caribbean and Central America.

Following in his grandfather’s footsteps, he ventured into the diplomatic world, representing Jamaica, as honorary consul in the country. He became Dean of the Consular Corps (2017-2019). He has been president of the Tourism Promotion Council, president of Asonahores, and president of the Caribbean Hotel and Tourism Association, CHTA. He was also president of the Association of Free Zone Stores of the DR.

He is optimistic about the future of the country. He considers that we have acted correctly in the management of the pandemic and that we have ahead of us the great challenge of citizen security. -In addition to my status as a lawyer and tourism expert I have added to the Enrique de Marchena, my status as a businessman.
