The Director General of Customs (DGA), Eduardo “Yayo” Sanz Lovatón, announced that Dominican Republic exports reached a record high in July 2024, totaling US$1,162.11 million, which represents a 13.24% increase compared to the same month last year.

Through his Twitter account, Sanz Lovatón shared the news, highlighting that so far this year, exports have accumulated US$7,492.68 million, with a 4.48% growth compared to the same period in 2023. “We closed July with excellent news!” the official said.

Free Zones led this growth, with an 11.56% increase in July and a 7.49% increase for the year-to-date. Among the most notable sectors in Dominican exports are medical instruments, tobacco, cocoa, and precious metal jewelry.

Sanz Lovatón concluded his message with optimism, emphasizing the continued progress of the Dominican economy and its strengthening in international markets. “We continue to advance!” he affirmed.
