Grupo Puntacana, Mac Hotels and Marriot Internationl began construction on the luxury all-inclusive hotel W Punta Cana, in Uvero Alto, with the presence of President Luis Abinader.

The W Punta Cana will be an adults-only all-inclusive luxury property, the first W Hotels in the Dominican market and one of the first “W all-Inclusive” resorts worldwide. It will cost about $130 million.

This resort will have 349 rooms with balconies and plunge pools, as well as dynamic programming for adults. The design of the resort includes a spa with eleven treatment rooms, a shopping area, three pools with bars, and eleven dining and bar options.

Frank Elias Rainieri, president and CEO of Grupo Puntacana, said that this project is part of Grupo Puntacana’s diversification and expansion strategies.

President Luis Abinader said that assured that, with this project, the 1,500 rooms under construction in the area are exceeded. The property is expected to open in the summer of 2024.

The project means 600 new jobs, which will help reduce the unemployment rate that has reached a historic low by February of this year, according to the President.

President Abinader thanked Begoña Amengual, Executive Vice President of Mac Hotels, for their faith in investing in the Dominican Republic. He described the country as a safe bet in which the Government guarantees investment.

Projects

Grupo Puntacana is a pioneer company in tourism and financial development that has been developing the Punta Cana destination for over 52 years.

It is currently investing 200 million dollars in the Punta Cana Free Zone Trade, with a free zone park, a logistics center, fuel center and the creation of 8 thousand new jobs.

Frank Elias Rainieri hopes that these facilities will become a bridge between America and Europe, and between North and South America.

The Group also has a stake in Terminal B2 of Punta Cana Airport, to be inaugurated in May of this year, which will allow the arrival of an additional 1.5 million tourists, for a total of 5.5 million. The investment exceeds 90 million dollars.
