Collado highlights that the Dominican Republic received 189,051 cruise passengers in July

Tourism Minister David Collado announced that the Dominican Republic received 7,197,844 visitors between January and July 2025, representing a 3.2% increase compared to the same period in 2024, a 14% rise from 2023, and a 49% increase compared to 2019.

While unveiling the tourism data during an event at a hotel in Santo Domingo, the official stated that in the first seven months of this year, the country received 5,377,878 air travelers, reflecting a 1.7% increase over the same period last year.

Collado also noted that this growth is evident via maritime arrivals, with 1,819,966 cruise passengers arriving—showing a 3.2% increase in the first seven months of 2025 compared to 2024.

“These two historic arrival figures amount to a total of 7,197,844 visitors in seven months. A new record in the history of Dominican tourism,” said Minister Collado.

He further reported that only in July, the country welcomed 863,785 air travelers, 6.5% above the same month in 2024. Additionally, in July, the country received 189,051 cruise passengers.

“That means that just in July, the country received 1,052,836 visitors, which is a 3.4% increase compared to last year, a 12% rise from 2023, and 56% above 2019,” Collado emphasized.

The main sending countries were the United States with 52%, Canada with 7%, Argentina and Puerto Rico with 6%, followed by Colombia with 4%, Mexico with 3%, and Spain, Brazil, and Chile with 2% each.

The airports that received the most tourists were Punta Cana with 59%, Las Américas with 23%, Cibao with 13%, Puerto Plata with 3%, and La Romana and others with 1%.

Collado highlighted that thanks to strong public-private partnerships, tourism will continue to grow and diversify.

Before sharing the tourism performance data, Collado met with industry entrepreneurs and stakeholders, reviewing the state of the sector in the country.
