Santo Domingo, RD – The Dominican Association of Free Zones (Adozona) highlighted that President Luis Abinader’s participation in the Executive Summit of the American Apparel and Footwear Association (AAFA), held in Washington, D.C., boosts the development of free trade zones and the attraction of new investments to the Dominican Republic.

During this important event, the President, alongside the Minister of Industry, Commerce, and Mipymes, Víctor Bisonó, held key meetings with strategic players from the apparel and footwear sectors, reinforcing the Dominican Republic’s positioning as a reliable and competitive destination for investment and trade in the region.

Claudia Pellerano, President of Adozona, emphasized the receptiveness of major industry players and the interest generated in the country’s free trade zone model.

“The meetings held during this summit represent a significant step in continuing to attract investments and expanding our opportunities in the textile and footwear sectors. At Adozona, we reaffirm our commitment to supporting these efforts and continue promoting growth and innovation in our free zones,” stated Pellerano.

As a result of these meetings, coordinated by the Ministry of Industry, Commerce, and Mipymes (MICM), follow-up visits are already being organized to consolidate investor interest and explore new strategic partnerships.

Adozona reiterated its support for initiatives that contribute to the country’s economic development and recognizes the public sector’s support in promoting the Dominican Republic as a key player in the free zone sector.
