Free zone exports increased 28.4% during the January-August 2021 period, compared to last year.
They went from a value of US$3,647.3 million during January-August 2020, to the sum of US$4,684.5 million for the same period of 2021, showing an absolute increase of US$1,037.2 million.
The executive director of the National Council of Export Free Zones (CNZFE), Daniel Liranzo, reported that all the productive sectors of free zones registered increases in the value of their exports during the said period, highlighting the following sectors: jewelry, with a growth of 100%; manufacture of tobacco and derivatives, with 65%; clothing and textiles, with 56%; alcoholic beverages, 32%; electrical products, 9%; medical devices, with 4%; among others.
