The Minister of Tourism, David Collado, highlighted in the city of Miami, United States, that the Dominican Republic has achieved the recovery of tourism, thanks to the joint effort of the public and private sectors.
“Together we have all achieved the recovery of tourism in the Dominican Republic,” said the official before more than 250 tour operators in a meeting he led in this city in the state of Florida, United States.
He said that the Dominican Republic became a world reference in tourism, registering the recovery of the industry that generates more than 500 thousand jobs in the Caribbean country and represents 17 percent of the Domestic Product (GDP).
In addition, during the activity, Collado highlighted the five pillars that complete the Country Brand of the Dominican Republic, which are Investment, Exports, Tourism, Culture, and Citizenship and it was explained that the strategy in the United States will be supported by the Dominican diaspora, with whom they will be deployed actions so that they accept the country brand as their own and become its ambassadors in that country, developing the pillars on which it is based.
“In this effort to strengthen our presence here in the United States, especially in Florida, we must go hand in hand, shoulder to shoulder, with that great Dominican community, which makes so many contributions to our economy through its visits, remittances, investment and the consumption of what is ours ”, expressed the Minister of Tourism.
The Country Brand Strategy represents the beginning of an effort to work comprehensively to strengthen the image of the Dominican Republic, projecting it not only as a tourist place, but also as an integral destination for business and investment, with export products of first quality and also as a space of cultural riches, indicates a press document.
It is recalled that in recent days, the Dominican Government launched, also in New York, its Country Brand strategy, in its effort to reinforce its presence, business relationships, and promotion in the United States, its main commercial partner and where most of the Dominicans living outside their territory.
The ceremony, headed by President Luis Abinader, the Minister of Tourism, David Collado, the president of the Country Brand commission for the private sector, Ligia Bonetti and the director of ProDominicana, Biviana Riveiro, was held in one of the rooms at the Ziegfeld Ballroom, in the heart of Manhattan.
