The Association of Hotels and Tourism of the Dominican Republic (Asonahores) today valued as positive the public policies developed by the administration of President Luis Abinader for being “a boost to the growth of investment in the country’s tourism industry”.
David Llibre, president of Asonahores, indicated that the impact of these policies can be seen in the development of the tourism sector as a result of the strategies implemented by the Dominican government through Minister David Collado.
He cited as an example the construction of new hotel infrastructure in destinations such as Miches, Punta Bergantín, and Cabo Rojo.
“From Asonahores we ratify our commitment to continue supporting the strategies promoted by the Dominican Government and that, through the tourism sector, to all the productive sectors of the national economy,” Llibre expressed.
Work of the public and private sectors
He pointed out that the achievement of reaching 10 million visitors has been accompanied by a synergy between the public and private sectors in which there was a strategy of public investment in the main tourist areas and the new poles.
As a result of the confidence in the country, in the next three years, the country will receive more than 9,000 new rooms distributed among 19 projects with an estimated investment of almost 3 billion dollars.
He stated that the increase in the flow of tourism has allowed the country to maintain its leadership in the region and its worldwide recognition as the favorite destination in the Caribbean.
