They will also help improve the customs system and streamline formalities to be more competitive.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This statement came from Jos\u00e9 W. Fern\u00e1ndez, US Under Secretary of State for Economic Growth, Energy and the Environment during a telephone press conference.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Fern\u00e1ndez explained that they have heard complaints that companies exporting to the United States, manufacture in two or three countries and assemble to then export later on, but then these products are stalled at the borders for a long time because the customs system does not work.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;We are looking for a way to streamline these formalities and to be more competitive and the Dominican Republic, I think, will be among those to benefit the most here, because it is something that Dominican businessmen are already calling for,&#8221; he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It is an alliance promoted by the United States and made up of Barbados, Canada, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, the Dominican Republic, Ecuador, Mexico, Panama, Peru and Uruguay to promote the recovery and growth of the economy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Fernandez said that the DR, Ecuador, Panama and Costa Rica have come together to create an Alliance for the Development of Democracy and part of what they want to do is seek cooperation to be more competitive in their production and imports from other countries.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>US Undersecretary of State explained that they will also support improving the customs system and streamlining processes to be more competitive.
