Applauds U.S. Senate Foreign Relations Committee Resolution"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The Foreign Relations Committee approved a bipartisan resolution reaffirming the importance of the partnership between the governments of the United States Senate and the Dominican Republic. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The document recognizes the diplomatic, economic, and cultural ties binding the two nations and calls for encouraging relations for mutual prosperity and security interests.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As they work to foster democracy, security, and prosperity in the Dominican Republic and throughout the Western Hemisphere, they look forward to continuing to work with the vibrant Dominican-American diaspora communities in New Jersey and across the United States, who are equally committed to promoting the well-being of people throughout the region.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In this regard, the document encourages the Dominican Government to continue its actions to take on a regional leadership role in promoting human rights, democratic values, and humanitarian assistance; and calls for new measures to strengthen cooperation between the Governments of the United States and the Dominican Republic on issues of shared strategic interest, including:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Assist the Dominican Republic in its post-COVID-19 economic recovery.<\/li><li>Develop and implement nearshoring initiatives in the Caribbean Basin to realign international supply chains and strengthen the Dominican Republic&#8217;s position as a major industrial, manufacturing and logistics hub.<\/li><li>Facilitate the expansion of economic and trade ties, including prioritizing bilateral financing of development projects and the formation of a Business Council between the United States and the Dominican Republic, among other initiatives.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>The resolution was introduced by Committee Chairman Senator Bob Menendez, who has a longstanding relationship with the Dominican Republic, as well as Marco Rubio, Ben Cardin and Bill Cassidy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"533\" height=\"793\"
