The Dominican economy registered an average accumulated growth of 4.0% in the first four months of 2026, higher than the 2.7% of the same period last year, despite an international climate characterized by high uncertainty due to the armed conflict in the Middle East that has resulted in increases in oil prices.

The Central Bank of the Dominican Republic (BCRD) reported this Wednesday that, last April, the monthly economic activity indicator (IMAE) had a 3.8% year-on-year variation, above the 1.7% seen in April 2025.

The behavior seen in the IMAE between January and April of this year is mainly due to the year-on-year expansion of the real value added of the mining sector (10.7%), construction (4.6%), free zone manufacturing (3.7%), local manufacturing (3.6%) and agriculture (2.7%).

In addition, the activities of the services sector, as a whole, grew by 4.4%, highlighting education (6.7%), financial services (6.2%), hotels, bars and restaurants (5.9%), health (5.7%), transportation and storage (4.9%) and other market services activities (4.6%).

The growth of mining was associated with higher volumes of gold and silver extraction. Meanwhile, the results of free zone manufacture are reflected in exports in dollars, which increased by 4.3% compared to the same period last year.

Similarly, the growth of local manufacturing was supported by the production of alcoholic beverages, the manufacture of non-metallic mineral products, and the production of other substances and chemical products.

The construction industry showed an average year-on-year variation of 4.6% between January and April 2026, despite the decrease of 1.8% in April.

The Dominican economy registered an average accumulated growth of 4.0% in the first four months of 2026, higher than the 2.7% of the same period last year, despite an international climate characterized by high uncertainty due to the armed conflict…

[149

post-12388","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-investment-in-dr
