The expansion and consolidation of the Dominican Republic\u2019s air and maritime connectivity is undoubtedly one of its main pillars for attracting foreign investment. A clear example of this is the country\u2019s current network of eight international airports and 17 cruise terminals and cargo ports.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The aviation industry alone handles more than 370 daily flights<\/strong>, operated by 375 air carriers<\/strong>, and records 19 million passengers<\/strong> between arrivals and departures.<\/p>\n\n\n\n With the aviation sector, the cruise industry, and a thriving hotel sector as its spearhead, the Dominican Republic has made a significant leap in attracting foreign direct investment (FDI) in Latin America.<\/p>\n\n\n\n This was highlighted by President Luis Abinader<\/strong>, who stated that \u201cthe Dominican Republic continues to strengthen its position among the Latin American countries that attract the most foreign direct investment.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cThe country has shown strong performance over the past few years, and projections for 2026 point to 4.5% economic growth<\/strong>. This reflects the foreign investment we have secured this year, the inflows expected for next year, and the confidence of international economic stakeholders,\u201d Abinader said during LA Semanal con la Prensa<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n For her part, ProDominicana<\/strong>\u2019s director Biviana Riveiro<\/strong> emphasized that, internationally, the Dominican Republic represents the most valuable Nation Brand in Central America<\/strong>, according to the Global Soft Power Index 2025<\/strong>. She also noted that the country ranks first in renewable energy and tourism FDI projects<\/strong> in the region, according to fDi Markets 2024<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Tourism continues to lead the region, reaching 11.2 million visitors by air and sea in 2024<\/strong>\u2014a 48% increase<\/strong> over 2019\u2014and generating US$10.974 billion in revenue<\/strong>, the highest figure in the nation\u2019s history.
