This figure represents <strong>62% of the country&#8217;s total exports<\/strong> during that period.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In a press release, the Ministry stated that in <strong>June alone<\/strong>, free zone exports amounted to <strong>US\\$771.96 million<\/strong>, reflecting a <strong>2.8% growth<\/strong> compared to the same month last year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>&#8220;This performance highlights the sector\u2019s resilience and ability to adapt to the challenges of international trade,&#8221; the statement said.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Main Exported Goods<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Medical and pharmaceutical products<\/strong> remain the leading export category, accounting for <strong>33.7%<\/strong> of the total and generating approximately <strong>US\\$260.5 million<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>They are followed by <strong>electrical and electronic products (14%)<\/strong>, <strong>tobacco and its derivatives (13.5%)<\/strong>, and <strong>textile manufacturing (10.4%)<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The <strong>United States<\/strong> remains the primary export destination, accounting for <strong>72.2%<\/strong> of the total, followed by <strong>Puerto Rico (4.1%)<\/strong>, the <strong>Netherlands (3.5%)<\/strong>, and <strong>Haiti (3.04%)<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>The Sector\u00b4s reole<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Minister of Industry, Commerce and MSMEs, <strong>V\u00edctor \u201cIto\u201d Bison\u00f3<\/strong>, emphasized the <strong>key role<\/strong> of the free zone sector as a <strong>source of foreign exchange and quality employment<\/strong>, stating:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>\u201cThe dynamism of free zones is a clear demonstration of the country\u2019s ability to successfully integrate into global value chains, even in today\u2019s highly challenging environment.
