{"id":11587,"date":"2025-07-12T16:34:00","date_gmt":"2025-07-12T16:34:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dmklawyers.com\/?p=11587"},"modified":"2025-07-12T16:34:03","modified_gmt":"2025-07-12T16:34:03","slug":"ministry-of-tourism-dr-received-more-than-six-million-visitors-in-the-first-half-of-2025","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dmklawyers.com\/en\/ministry-of-tourism-dr-received-more-than-six-million-visitors-in-the-first-half-of-2025\/","title":{"rendered":"Ministry of Tourism: DR received more than six million visitors in the first half of 2025"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Minister David Collado is certain the goal of 12 million will be reached by the end of the year\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>According to the latest figures provided by the Ministry of Tourism, the Dominican Republic reached a new record of visitors, with the arrival of 6,145,008 people in the first half of 2025.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This total, the highest in the history of the sector for the January-June period, represents an increase of 3% compared to last year, with 185,166 additional visitors.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to statistics, 4,514,093 tourists arrived in the country by air, while 1,630,915 did so by sea.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;When you see those two figures together, you realize how much we have grown: 6,145,008 visitors chose our country for vacations. This is something historic,&#8221; said the Minister of Tourism, David Collado, while presenting&nbsp;the sector&#8217;s results.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"914\" height=\"1000\" src=\"https:\/\/dmklawyers.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/Screenshot-2025-07-12-at-12.25.10-PM-1.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-11588\" srcset=\"https:\/\/dmklawyers.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/Screenshot-2025-07-12-at-12.25.10-PM-1.png 914w, https:\/\/dmklawyers.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/Screenshot-2025-07-12-at-12.25.10-PM-1-274x300.png 274w, https:\/\/dmklawyers.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/Screenshot-2025-07-12-at-12.25.10-PM-1-768x840.png 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 914px) 100vw, 914px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The main countries of origin were the United States (45%); Canada (18%); Argentina (6%) and Colombia (4%), while Puerto Rico, France, England, Chile and Germany contributed 2% each.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Punta Cana was the airport with the highest volume of arrivals during this period. 63% of the total number of tourists entered through this terminal, equivalent to 2,845,622 passengers.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>They were followed by airports:&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Las Am\u00e9ricas: 888,331\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>El Cibao: 454,804\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Puerto Plata: 227,842\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>La Romana: 62,441\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Other terminals: 35,053\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>In this same period, the total number&nbsp;of flights arriving was 35,114. The five countries with the most air operations were the United States (50%), Canada (12%), Panama (6%), Colombia (5%) and Puerto Rico (5%). Punta Cana accounted for 23% of the total number of flights.&nbsp; % del total de vuelos.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"920\" height=\"638\" src=\"https:\/\/dmklawyers.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/Screenshot-2025-07-12-at-12.26.08-PM-1.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-11590\" srcset=\"https:\/\/dmklawyers.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/Screenshot-2025-07-12-at-12.26.08-PM-1.png 920w, https:\/\/dmklawyers.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/Screenshot-2025-07-12-at-12.26.08-PM-1-300x208.png 300w, https:\/\/dmklawyers.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/Screenshot-2025-07-12-at-12.26.08-PM-1-768x533.png 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 920px) 100vw, 920px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Experiences<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Domestic hotel occupancy reached 77% and the satisfaction rate stood at 4.4 out of 5.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>93% of tourists said they would repeat the destination and 60% would recommend it.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The most popular excursions were Saona Island, the Colonial Zone, Catalina Island, Cayo Levantado and Los Haitises. Activities such as snorkeling, buggy and horseback riding, zipline, golf, visits to theme parks, and kayaking trips were also highlighted.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Collado said that, at the current rate of growth, the goal of 12 million visitors will be reached by the end of 2025.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>These figures were presented during the official ceremony held at the Renaissance Santo Domingo Jaragua hotel, headed by President Luis Abinader and the Minister of Tourism, with the presence of representatives of the sector and the media.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The president highlighted the energy of tourism and reiterated that this is a propitious time to invest in the Dominican Republic, especially in the tourism industry. He attributed the sustained growth to collaboration between the public and private sectors.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He also confirmed that he will lead the Dominican delegation taking part in the International Tourism Fair (Fitur 2026), which will be held from January 21 to 25 next year, with special emphasis on Pedernales&nbsp;as an upcoming
