0.17%,\u00a0due\u00a0to\u00a0price\u00a0reductions\u00a0in\u00a0items\u00a0such\u00a0as\u00a0green\u00a0and\u00a0ripe\u00a0plantains,\u00a0fresh\u00a0chicken,\u00a0and\u00a0potatoes,\u00a0according\u00a0to\u00a0the\u00a0Central\u00a0Bank.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>The&nbsp;year-on-year&nbsp;inflation&nbsp;rate&nbsp;in&nbsp;the&nbsp;Dominican&nbsp;Republic&nbsp;stood&nbsp;at&nbsp;<strong>3.71%&nbsp;in&nbsp;April 2025<\/strong>,&nbsp;marking&nbsp;<strong>17&nbsp;consecutive&nbsp;months<\/strong>&nbsp;within&nbsp;the&nbsp;target&nbsp;range&nbsp;of&nbsp;<strong>4.0% \u00b1 1.0%<\/strong>,&nbsp;the&nbsp;Central&nbsp;Bank (BCRD)&nbsp;reported&nbsp;on&nbsp;Tuesday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This&nbsp;performance&nbsp;places&nbsp;the&nbsp;country&nbsp;among&nbsp;the&nbsp;<strong>non-dollarized&nbsp;economies&nbsp;in&nbsp;Latin&nbsp;America&nbsp;with&nbsp;the&nbsp;lowest&nbsp;inflation<\/strong>,&nbsp;according&nbsp;to&nbsp;the&nbsp;monetary&nbsp;authority.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The&nbsp;report&nbsp;highlights&nbsp;that&nbsp;<strong>monthly&nbsp;inflation&nbsp;of&nbsp;the&nbsp;CPI&nbsp;was&nbsp;just 2025<\/strong>,&nbsp;the&nbsp;<strong>lowest&nbsp;monthly&nbsp;variation&nbsp;rate&nbsp;in&nbsp;the&nbsp;past 65&nbsp;months<\/strong>,&nbsp;that&nbsp;is,&nbsp;since&nbsp;December 2019.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Thus,&nbsp;<strong>core&nbsp;year-on-year&nbsp;inflation<\/strong>&nbsp;declined&nbsp;from&nbsp;<strong>4.24%&nbsp;in&nbsp;March&nbsp;to 4.13%&nbsp;in&nbsp;April 2025<\/strong>,&nbsp;remaining&nbsp;within&nbsp;the&nbsp;target&nbsp;set&nbsp;by&nbsp;the&nbsp;Central&nbsp;Bank.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This&nbsp;indicator&nbsp;provides&nbsp;clearer&nbsp;signals&nbsp;for&nbsp;monetary&nbsp;policy&nbsp;decisions,&nbsp;as&nbsp;it&nbsp;excludes&nbsp;items&nbsp;that&nbsp;typically&nbsp;do&nbsp;not&nbsp;respond&nbsp;to&nbsp;liquidity&nbsp;conditions&nbsp;in&nbsp;the&nbsp;economy\u2014such&nbsp;as&nbsp;foods&nbsp;with&nbsp;high&nbsp;price&nbsp;volatility,&nbsp;fuels,&nbsp;and&nbsp;regulated&nbsp;services&nbsp;like&nbsp;electricity&nbsp;tariffs,&nbsp;transportation,&nbsp;as&nbsp;well&nbsp;as&nbsp;alcoholic&nbsp;beverages&nbsp;and&nbsp;tobacco.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The&nbsp;<strong>Transport&nbsp;group&nbsp;CPI<\/strong>&nbsp;registered&nbsp;a&nbsp;variation&nbsp;of&nbsp;<strong>-0.32%<\/strong>,&nbsp;due&nbsp;to&nbsp;lower&nbsp;prices&nbsp;for&nbsp;automobiles&nbsp;and&nbsp;airfares.&nbsp;The&nbsp;<strong>fuel&nbsp;subsidy<\/strong>&nbsp;implemented&nbsp;by&nbsp;the&nbsp;Executive&nbsp;Branch&nbsp;has&nbsp;kept&nbsp;domestic&nbsp;fuel&nbsp;prices&nbsp;unchanged,&nbsp;helping&nbsp;to&nbsp;moderate&nbsp;this&nbsp;group&#8217;s&nbsp;impact&nbsp;on&nbsp;the&nbsp;general&nbsp;CPI.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Similarly,&nbsp;the&nbsp;<strong>Communications&nbsp;group<\/strong>&nbsp;contributed&nbsp;to&nbsp;the&nbsp;decline&nbsp;with&nbsp;a&nbsp;<strong>-0.74%&nbsp;variation<\/strong>,&nbsp;driven&nbsp;by&nbsp;price&nbsp;reductions&nbsp;in&nbsp;bundled&nbsp;telecommunications&nbsp;services,&nbsp;particularly&nbsp;those&nbsp;related&nbsp;to&nbsp;online&nbsp;data&nbsp;transmission (streaming).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The&nbsp;<strong>Miscellaneous&nbsp;Goods&nbsp;and&nbsp;Services&nbsp;group<\/strong>&nbsp;showed&nbsp;<strong>0.44%&nbsp;inflation<\/strong>,&nbsp;due&nbsp;to&nbsp;price&nbsp;increases&nbsp;in&nbsp;some&nbsp;personal&nbsp;care&nbsp;services&nbsp;and&nbsp;products.&nbsp;The&nbsp;<strong>Health&nbsp;group<\/strong>&nbsp;posted&nbsp;a&nbsp;<strong>0.70%&nbsp;variation<\/strong>,&nbsp;mainly&nbsp;attributed&nbsp;to&nbsp;price&nbsp;hikes&nbsp;in&nbsp;antihypertensive&nbsp;medications.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The&nbsp;<strong>Housing&nbsp;group<\/strong>&nbsp;recorded&nbsp;a&nbsp;<strong>0.19%&nbsp;increase<\/strong>&nbsp;due&nbsp;to&nbsp;rising&nbsp;housing&nbsp;rental&nbsp;service&nbsp;prices.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Meanwhile,&nbsp;the&nbsp;<strong>0.23%&nbsp;variation<\/strong>&nbsp;in&nbsp;the&nbsp;<strong>Restaurants&nbsp;and&nbsp;Hotels&nbsp;group<\/strong>&nbsp;was&nbsp;explained&nbsp;by&nbsp;higher&nbsp;prices&nbsp;in&nbsp;daily&nbsp;meal&nbsp;services.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Regional&nbsp;Inflation<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The&nbsp;<strong>Ozama&nbsp;region<\/strong>&nbsp;(National&nbsp;District&nbsp;and&nbsp;Santo&nbsp;Domingo)&nbsp;and&nbsp;the&nbsp;<strong>South<\/strong>&nbsp;showed&nbsp;<strong>negative&nbsp;rates<\/strong>&nbsp;of&nbsp;<strong>-0.09%&nbsp;and -0.07%<\/strong>,&nbsp;respectively,&nbsp;thanks&nbsp;to&nbsp;declines&nbsp;in&nbsp;food&nbsp;and&nbsp;transport.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In&nbsp;contrast,&nbsp;the&nbsp;<strong>Eastern&nbsp;region<\/strong>&nbsp;recorded&nbsp;the&nbsp;highest&nbsp;regional&nbsp;inflation&nbsp;at&nbsp;<strong>0.28%<\/strong>,&nbsp;due&nbsp;to&nbsp;increases&nbsp;in&nbsp;ground&nbsp;transportation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">By&nbsp;Income&nbsp;Quintile<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Households&nbsp;in&nbsp;the&nbsp;<strong>lower&nbsp;income&nbsp;quintiles (1&nbsp;to 3)<\/strong>&nbsp;faced&nbsp;inflation&nbsp;rates&nbsp;between&nbsp;<strong>0.09%&nbsp;and 0.13%<\/strong>,&nbsp;while&nbsp;<strong>higher&nbsp;income&nbsp;households (quintiles 4&nbsp;and 5)<\/strong>&nbsp;registered&nbsp;nearly&nbsp;<strong>zero&nbsp;increases<\/strong>&nbsp;of&nbsp;<strong>0.01%&nbsp;and 0.02%<\/strong>,&nbsp;benefitting&nbsp;from&nbsp;lower&nbsp;vehicle&nbsp;prices,&nbsp;airfares,&nbsp;and&nbsp;telecom&nbsp;services.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Income&nbsp;Quintiles&nbsp;Breakdown<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The&nbsp;Central&nbsp;Bank&nbsp;report&nbsp;also&nbsp;breaks&nbsp;down&nbsp;CPI&nbsp;variation&nbsp;by&nbsp;socioeconomic&nbsp;strata,&nbsp;showing&nbsp;that&nbsp;<strong>lower-income&nbsp;households
