Dominican tourism began the year with a historic record in arrivals, reaching the figure of 1,155,484 visitors in the month of January, exceeding 2019 by 53%, 2023 by 22% and 2024 by 8%. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Minister of Tourism, David Collado, made the announcement when presenting the results of the industry’s performance at his monthly press release in Santo Domingo. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
He said that the country received 759,929 tourists by air in January, while 395,555 cruise passengers arrived by sea. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
“When you add those two figures together, you get a huge number: 1,155,484 visitors, breaking our own records from previous years,” Collado said. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The main countries that sent tourists in January were the United States with 36%, Canada with 25%, Argentina with 8%, Colombia with 5% and France with 3%, the official said. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
He also reported that Punta Cana Airport continues to receive the largest number of tourists, 63%, followed by Las Am\u00e9ricas with 19%, Cibao with 9% and Puerto Plata with 7%. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Minister Collado reiterated that 2025 will be a better year for Dominican tourism, thanks to the alliance between the public and private sectors. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
He said that priority will be given to continuing to improve air connectivity, which will guarantee more tourist arrivals. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Collado took the opportunity to offer some details of the Dominican Republic’s participation in ANATO Vitrina tourism fair, which will take place in Bogot\u00e1, Colombia, from the 26th to the 28th of this month. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Juan Bancalari , president of Asonahores, agreed with Minister Collado that this will be an extraordinary year for the sector. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
He also highlighted the effectiveness of the public-private alliance and the work of the Mitur (Min.
