{"id":11078,"date":"2025-01-15T13:27:43","date_gmt":"2025-01-15T13:27:43","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dmklawyers.com\/?p=11078"},"modified":"2025-01-15T13:27:45","modified_gmt":"2025-01-15T13:27:45","slug":"the-free-zone-sector-has-accumulated-investments-exceeding-us7-496-billion","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dmklawyers.com\/en\/the-free-zone-sector-has-accumulated-investments-exceeding-us7-496-billion\/","title":{"rendered":"The free zone sector has accumulated investments exceeding US$7.496 billion"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Exports under the free zone regime reached US$7.974 billion between January and November 2024<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>During 2024, the National Free Zones Council, led by the Ministry of Industry, Commerce, and MSMEs (MICM), approved the establishment of 74 new companies, representing a total investment of RD$11,572,496,139.23 and the projection of approximately 7,000 new jobs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Growth in Free Zone Exports<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Exports under the free zone regime reached US$7.974 billion between January and November 2024, reflecting a 7.12% growth compared to the same period in 2023.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The composition of these exports is divided into consumer goods (51.88%), capital goods (33.00%), and raw materials (15.12%).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The most exported products fall under the following tariff chapters:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Optical and photographic instruments and apparatus (22.15%)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Tobacco and substitutes (15.32%)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Electrical machinery and apparatus (13.56%)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Pearls, precious stones, and similar items (9.02%)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Garments (7.29%)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Pharmaceutical products (5.98%)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Plastics and plastic articles (4.71%)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>The United States remains the leading export destination, accounting for 72.88% of total exports, followed by Puerto Rico (4.78%) and Haiti (3.54%).<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>During 2024, the National Free Zones Council, led by the Ministry of Industry, Commerce, and MSMEs (MICM), approved the establishment of 74 new companies, representing a total investment of RD$11,572,496,139.23 and the projection of approximately 7,000 new jobs.
