The Dominican Association of Free Zones (Adozona) celebrated the results published by the General Customs Directorate regarding the sector’s exports for June 2024, which set a new record by reaching $752.96 million.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This figure represents a 4.6% increase compared to the same period last year. According to preliminary data, total exports showed an 8.6% increase compared to June 2023, totaling $1,134.88 million.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Adozona President Luis Jos\u00e9 Bonilla Bojos stated that this performance reaffirms the crucial role of free zones as a key driver of economic growth and job creation in the Dominican Republic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“These results reflect the sector\u2019s ongoing commitment and its ability to adapt and grow in a dynamic global environment,” he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Export Growth<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n By June 2024, total exports amounted to $6,334.32 million, representing a 3.1% increase compared to the $6,145.19 million accumulated by June 2023.<\/p>\n\n\n\n National exports reported $1,922.99 million in the first half of 2024, slightly below the same period last year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Free zone exports expanded to $4,258.46 million in the first half of the year, showing a 6.8% increase compared to the $3,987.92 million exported by June 2023.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Over the past 12 months, annualized free zone exports reached a record $8.3225 billion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Projections<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n Adozona estimates that, if the trend continues, exports could surpass $8,500 million by the end of 2024, marking a milestone for the export sector.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The association reiterated its commitment to continue working in collaboration with the government and all relevant stakeholders to further strengthen the free zone sector, aiming to promote innovation, competitiveness, and the continued progress of the national economy.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" The Dominican Association of Free Zones (Adozona) celebrated the results published by the General Customs Directorate regarding the sector’s exports for June 2024, which set a new record by reaching $752.96 million.
