{"id":10365,"date":"2024-05-08T20:34:23","date_gmt":"2024-05-08T20:34:23","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dmklawyers.com\/?p=10365"},"modified":"2024-05-08T20:34:26","modified_gmt":"2024-05-08T20:34:26","slug":"the-secretary-general-of-icao-recognizes-the-dominican-republic-as-a-regional-air-hub-and-a-benchmark-for-world-civil-aviation","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dmklawyers.com\/en\/the-secretary-general-of-icao-recognizes-the-dominican-republic-as-a-regional-air-hub-and-a-benchmark-for-world-civil-aviation\/","title":{"rendered":"The Secretary General of ICAO recognizes the Dominican Republic as a regional air hub and a benchmark for world civil aviation"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Punta Cana.- The Secretary General of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), Juan Carlos Salazar, affirmed that the Dominican Republic has become a regional air hub, with a dynamism in aeronautical transportation that has served as motivation for many countries around the world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He stated that the Dominican Republic&#8217;s experience following the Covid-19 pandemic not only accelerated the reopening of international air markets but also surpassed old schemes in crisis management related to civil aviation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;In this sense, the Dominican aeronautical sector has continued to build upon this great contribution, emphasizing the importance of air transportation in connecting the country with the world,&#8221; Salazar pointed out, concluding the Global Symposium on Civil Aviation Implementation, held in the tourist community of Punta Cana, under the responsibility of the Dominican Institute of Civil Aviation (IDAC).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He added, &#8220;Indeed, today, the Dominican Republic is the center of connections, the hub of the region, and is experiencing a dynamism in air transportation that all of us in aviation celebrate and closely monitor.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;I have been an exceptional witness to the great work done by the Dominican government, led by President Luis Abinader along with the IDAC and other institutions in the country&#8217;s aeronautical sector,&#8221; the Colombian expert remarked.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He emphasized, &#8220;Even in the most difficult times of the pandemic, when flights were suspended worldwide, not only in the region but worldwide, here in the Dominican Republic, government institutions in coordination with the private sector ensured that aviation and tourism did not come to a halt.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>A world-class event<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Reviewing the results of the Global Symposium, or GISS for its English acronym, Juan Carlos Salazar stated, &#8220;The Dominican Republic has shown that it has hosted a world-class event, where we have had very important discussions and conclusions that serve to advance aviation globally and additionally has placed the next host country of this event, the United Arab Emirates, in a very high position. So, they have a great challenge to reach the same level that the Dominican Republic has achieved in this event.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To contextualize the concluded event, he highlighted that &#8220;the first meeting of this global symposium was held in Turkey, the second event in Korea, and this, which is the third event, I believe has set the bar quite high, for the success it has had.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;This event truly sets the course for which ICAO is working on one of its pillars, which is to build the capacity of its Member States,&#8221; added the ICAO Secretary General.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>About ICAO<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;ICAO, as many of you know, is the International Civil Aviation Organization, it establishes global aviation standards, but at the same time, it sets policies that the 193 member countries follow for global aviation, and in this sense, we are also concerned because each State improves its capabilities and ensures that it is meeting those minimum standards, so that aviation is what all of us who use air transportation know, is the safest mode of transportation there is,&#8221; underscored Juan Carlos
