Mañana 22 de abril celebramos el Día Internacional de la Madre Tierra en honor a nuestro planeta y sus ecosistemas que nos dan la vida y el sustento.
Este día fue creado para hacer un llamado a la reflexión y a la responsabilidad humana de cara a los problemas que afectan a la Tierra y a las diferentes formas de vida que en ella se desarrollan.
Con esta celebración admitimos la responsabilidad colectiva, como nos recordaba la Declaración de Río de 1992, de fomentar la armonía con la naturaleza y la Madre Tierra para alcanzar el equilibrio justo entre las necesidades económicas, sociales y medioambientales de las generaciones presentes y futuras.
En 2017, la campaña se denomina “Alfabetización medioambiental y climática”.
La educación constituye los cimientos del progreso. Necesitamos que la ciudadanía mundial conozca los conceptos sobre el cambio climático y sea consciente de la amenaza sin precedentes para el planeta. El conocimiento nos empoderará a todos y nos llevará a tomar medidas oportunas para defender el medio ambiente.

On April 22nd we celebrate International Earth Day in honor of our planet and its ecosystems that give us life and sustenance.
The idea was conceived as a call for reflection and human responsibility regarding the problems affecting the Earth and the different types of life living on it.
By celebrating this day we accept the collective responsibility, as the Rio Declaration of 1992 reminded us, to promote harmony with nature and Mother Earth in order to reach the right balance between the economic, social and environmental needs of present and future generations.
This year´s campaign is called “Environmental and climate literacy”.
Education is the foundation of progress. We need everyone around the world to know about climate change and be aware of the unprecedented threat to the planet. Knowledge will empower all of us and will lead us to take timely actions to protect the environment.
